Liz Paton from Barnsley-based Tarnished Studios ended up being surrounded by eager students thirsting for knowledge after delivering a fantastic ‘BBIS’ talk at Horizon College on Thursday afternoon.

Tarnished Studios is a full animation and post production house based at the Barnsley Business Innovation Centre in Wilthorpe Barnsley, and is run by Animation Director Liz and Creative Director Jon Preston (pictured).

Liz kindly agreed to be involved in Lifetime’s ‘Barnsley Businesses Inspiring Students’ project and gave her talk and presentation to Horizon’s Y7/Y8 master class.

The college kids were clearly interested – and afterwards a few came up to Liz to ask further questions about her business; how she worked; and how they could build on their own interest in animation, videos and gaming.

Said Liz: “I really enjoyed it and it was great to get some feedback and inter-action from the students. There were some very interesting questions!

“As a company, we specialise in CGI (Computer Generated Imagery) and animation for use on websites, games, films, cartoons, corporate and informational videos, animated logos, gifs and much more.

“We work with a wide range of clients, from the NHS and local councils to small businesses, games and web designers, to produce high quality animated visual content.

“We are currently working on the studio’s first fully animated children’s TV series.

“We also offer a wide range of animation master classes covering CGI and VFX training for varying ages and skill groups, most recently at Staffordshire University and Rotherham College.”
