The new Barnsley hospice mascot made its first official appearance on Tuesday afternoon – at Lifetime!

We are thrilled to be the sponsor of the mascot for 2014 – and the ‘hospice hound’ bounded up to our offices in Dodworth – alongside fundraiser Samantha Silverwood – to receive monies generated by our Christmas charity activities.

Lifetime director Kevin Lawton was only too pleased (see below) to hand over a cheque for £102.70 (money raised by staff instead of sending Christmas cards to each other), while £40.43 was also given to the hospice as a result of our Christmas jumper day fundraising event.

The hospice hound has yet to be ‘officially’ named. Local radio station Dearne FM have been asking listeners for their favourite name, while both the hospice and Lifetime have been asking their Facebook followers to suggest a ‘moniker’. ‘Hector’ appears to be the current favourite, while ‘Bertie’ is also proving popular with the public.
