Andy Nicholson, the Managing Director at Lifetime’s neighbours, Doyle Consultant Limited and Doyle CCTV and Monitoring Ltd, delivered an impassioned, heartfelt talk to students at Horizon Community College on Thursday afternoon.

Andy (pictured below), is a committed speaker in Lifetime’s ‘Barnsley Businesses Inspiring Students’ venture and kindly gave his time to tell his own ‘inspirational story’ to Horizon’s Year 7/Year 8 master class.

He told the students that he had been born in Barnsley and since the age of five to the present day he had never lived more than a mile away from where Horizon College now stands.

He explained about his school life, his working life before joining Doyle’s – including a spell as an icecream man(!) – and his time at Doyle’s, where he is in charge of over 250 staff and oversees operations that help company turn over in the region of £4-5 million a year.

Andy said: “I was honoured and privileged to be asked to be part of the BBIS project, and to be able to come into Horizon where my son attends, to talk to the students.”

His story – telling of his journey from a young lad of their age to where he is now in the Barnsley business community – certainly had a captive audience (see picture below), and when it came to his ‘question and answer’ session he was duly inundated with queries from the students!
